چکیده

The economic return from cereal or cereal/vetch crops was determined using previously published and new agronomic herbage quality data experiments conducted at four sites across southern New South Wales, Australia, over years (2008 to 2011), evaluate the parameters of two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), barley (Hordeum vulgare oat (Avena sativa one triticale (x Triticosecale) variety, grown as monocultures in combination with purple vetch (Vicia benghalensis L.). (n = 193) were harvested different stages maturity ranged metabolisable energy (ME) 6.9 13.1 MJ/kg DM crude protein (CP) content 49.8 215.4 g/kg DM. Reducing costs increasing livestock value improved GM. highest high ME, adequate CP, good yields. Increasing reduced when growth rates low, exceeded gain.

Conservation Tillage Corn and Forage Crops

Several reduced, or conservation tillage (CT) approaches are currently being evaluated in Central Valley forage production systems. In theory, these practices reduce costs and minimize the time needed to go from one crop to the next. Recent single-year trials with dairy forage producers in Stanislaus and Tulare Counties have evaluated the potential of several CT systems and have identified a nu...

Performance and economic analyses of year-round forage systems for forage-fed beef production in the Gulf Coast.

On a global scale, most beef is produced from grazing pastures or rangelands. Certain limitations exist, however, such as not having adequate animal rates of gain for marbling and availability of adequate forage nutritional value and quantity for constant animal weight gains. In the last 20 yr, there has been an increased interest in forage-fed beef for multiple reasons (health related, environ...

Sorting Strategies for Long Yearling Cattle Grown in an Extensive Forage Utilization Beef Production System

One hundred sixty English-cross steers (244 kg, SD=23 kg) were used in each yr of a 2-yr study to determine effects of sorting on performance, carcass characteristics, variability, and profitability in a long yearling system utilizing ranch-source calves. Steers were backgrounded during winter then grazed smooth bromegrass pastures followed by warm season native range prior to entering the feed...

Winter Cereal–Corn Double Crop Forage Production and Phosphorus Removal

Maximizing P removal with cropping can increase regulated Pbased manuring rates or reduce soil test P in manure-enriched soils. The potential for increased P removal with winter forage–corn silage double cropping was evaluated in a 3-yr study at Parma, ID. Winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), and both winter and spring genotypes of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and triticale (3Triticosecale Wittm...

Fodder Crop Production for Conservation as Winter Feed and Technology Transfer from Pakistan to N.w. China and North Vietnam

Livestock production by transhumance rearing systems is the major land use and a source of livelihood in most areas of the arid, semiarid, and arid temperate agro-ecological zones of Asia. It is perhaps the best way of exploiting these pastures economically. Lack of feed is the major constraint to improving livestock production during winter and early spring, as the temperatures are extremely l...
